Rex Kelly Professional Achievement Award
Rex Kelly, Director of Corporate Communications for Mississippi Power Company, and founder of the Mississippi Beach Chapter of PRAM poses with 2001 Chapter President Mary Cracchiolo. The award was developed by the chapter in 2001 to honor Kelly, who was the first recipient of the award.

Terry Hines Smith, APR, the public affairs specialist for EPA’s Gulf of Mexico Program at the John C. Stennis Space Center, was recently recognized by the Mississippi Beach Chapter of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi for her professionalism and for her efforts in enhancing the role of the public relations practitioner.

Smith’s responsibilities include public relations and communications for an organization with an approach to environmental protection that emphasizes community-based, ecosystem management.

She received a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Auburn University at Montgomery.  She is an honor graduate of the Public Affairs Officer Course at the Defense Information School and a graduate of Air University’s Squadron Officer School.  Smith was Accredited in Public Relations in 2001 and was recently asked to serve on the Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce’s Communications Committee.  She is a past president of the Mississippi Beach Chapter of PRAM and currently serves at the state level as Vice President of Programs.

As the recipient of the chapter’s Rex Kelly Professional Achievement Award, Smith is now one of the candidates for the Public Relations Association of Mississippi’s state level Professional Achievement Award which will be announced March 26 in Jackson at the state conference, “The Power of PR.”
